Sixteen-year-old Lillim Callina is good at two things: running away and magic.

Now, Lillim’s half-demon ex-boyfriend is contacting her for help, she has somehow gotten herself mixed up in a kidnapping, and her long-dead rival has risen from the grave.

So when a dragon plotting to take over the world offers her a choice- work for him or else-

Lillim Callina is going to choose else.

My Review

This book came to me from the author for an honest review.

While it hooked me at the start, I soon was confused by the number of characters and unclear as to the goal of the heroine. The big strength of this book lies in the fact that the protagonist, Lillim Callina, is a likeable character. But there are too many plot and subplots in this story to really engage the reader. Just when the reader thinks he or she understands where the story is going, another side story is added. In addition the main character is a reincarnation and tendrils of her former life keep intruding on the story adding to the confusion. She also has multiple love interests and it is unclear which lover she is really interested in (if either).

If you like books that juggle multiple stories along with elements of supernatural (think vampires, demons and the occasional werewolf) you may find this read entertaining. For me it didn’t work.
