Read Cathi's ReviewI enjoyed the unique mixture of world building and adventure. For me, the story has an epic fantasy feel to it, it is surrounded by magic, battles, and journeys in which the main characters grow and discover their purpose and true nature. There is complexity to the story but not so much that it was hard to follow. I am anxious to read the next book in the series and find out what happens next in the world of Five Corners and The Marked Ones.
I can't wait to see what happens to these characters, what adventures they will go on next and how the prophecy will all play out.
A great start to this fantasy series! Sure to engage tween and teenage girls, the narrative offers a solid feminist message (unlike certain other popular series). With some subtle romance and more complex themes that start to emerge at the end of book one, the second book promises to be even better.
